Terms of Service
These terms govern your access to Finance Ledger, provided by Finance Ledger. By using the service, you agree to them.
1. The service
Finance Ledger is a personal-finance tool that helps you import, organise, and analyse account, transaction, asset, and liability data. Some features may be provided as a limited or testing version.
Finance Ledger is not a bank, payment institution, accounting firm, or investment intermediary and does not hold your funds.
2. Account and security
You must provide accurate account information, protect your access credentials, and notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access. Do not share your account or use the service for unlawful purposes or to process financial data you are not entitled to use.
3. Bank connections
When you choose to connect a bank, you expressly start the process and give consent on the secure page of your bank or the open-banking provider. Finance Ledger does not receive your online-banking password.
Access is limited to the account and transaction information you authorise. Finance Ledger does not initiate payments and cannot transfer funds. We use a regulated provider, currently Enable Banking, for connectivity, and availability also depends on that provider and your bank.
You can stop future access through the disconnect function in Finance Ledger and, where applicable, through your bank or the provider. Disconnecting does not automatically erase records already imported; you can manage or delete your data as described in the Privacy Notice.
4. Data accuracy and availability
Data from banks, files, and other external sources may be delayed, incomplete, duplicated, or temporarily unavailable. We try to detect inconsistencies, but your bank remains the authoritative source for balances and transactions. Verify important decisions against your bank statement.
5. Informational purpose
Summaries, categories, forecasts, and other calculations are for information only. They are not financial, investment, tax, accounting, or legal advice. You remain responsible for your decisions and should consult a qualified professional when needed.
6. Acceptable use
You must not bypass security controls, disrupt the service, perform unauthorised automated extraction, upload malicious content, or attempt to access another person's account or data.
7. Third-party providers and changes
The service depends on external providers for authentication, hosting, database, email, diagnostics, and bank connectivity. Their outages or changes may temporarily limit features. We may change, add, or remove features to improve security, compliance, or product operation.
8. Fees
If your access is provided free of charge or as part of a beta programme, you will not be charged without a clear advance offer and your express agreement to a paid plan. The terms of a separate promotion or beta invitation apply together with these terms.
9. Privacy and your data
Processing, retention periods, providers, and your rights are described in the Privacy Notice.
You retain rights in the data you add. You give us the limited right to process it only as needed to provide and protect the features you request.
10. Termination and deletion
You may stop using the service and delete your account from Settings. We may restrict or end access for a serious breach of these terms, a security risk, or a legal requirement. Where reasonable and permitted, we will notify you in advance.
11. Liability
We use reasonable care to provide a secure and reliable service, but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation or absolute accuracy of data from external sources. Nothing in these terms limits rights or liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
12. Changes and contact
We may update these terms when the service or legal requirements change. We will publish the current version and, for a material change, provide appropriate notice before it takes effect.
For questions about these terms, use the contact form or email support@financeledger.io.
