Understanding financial analysis

Compare periods, savings, utilities and leading expenses.

Which periods are compared?

In Analysis choose a period and period count. The current period is marked In progress and is excluded from averages, comparisons and rankings until it ends. Comparing two periods requires two completed periods; comparing the latest four against the previous four requires eight. The calendar-quarter breakdown may have an incomplete first or last quarter.

How do I read savings?

Review How savings were formed and the separate savings-account activity. Deposits, withdrawals and net change are different metrics. A transfer to your own savings account is not new spending and is not counted twice. Correct account type is needed for activity to appear in the relevant section.

How do I check utilities?

Choose electricity, heating, water, phone and internet, or all utilities. Review period spending, comparisons and payments by provider. Missing categorized payments means missing data for this breakdown, not proof of zero consumption.

Why doesn’t the chart show every category and merchant?

Charts show the eight largest categories or merchants. Percentages are shares of all spending, so displayed shares may not add up to 100%. Open Other categories or Other merchants for the remaining items. Hover over or focus a chart period for complete values.
