Understanding your finances
Gold and silver
Add precious metals and understand their weight- and purity-based valuation.
How do I add a precious metal?
Open Net worth → Add investment and select Precious metals.
- Enter a name and optionally a provider. Choose gold or silver.
- Enter total weight in grams and purity in parts per thousand: for example 999.9, 750 for 18-carat gold or 925 for silver.
- Optionally enter the total purchase cost in EUR. Review the spot valuation and save the investment.
How is the value calculated?
Fine content is weight × purity ÷ 1000, multiplied by the Gold API price in EUR per gram of fine metal. For example, 10 g at 750 purity contains 7.5 g of fine metal. Entering a purchase cost also enables a comparison against that cost.
Is this the resale price?
The valuation covers metal content only. It excludes premiums, fees, workmanship and collectible value. A buyback offer may differ.
What happens when a price is unavailable?
Prices are checked every 30 minutes while the page is open. Check the timestamp and Last known price label. An existing holding can use its saved price for the same metal. Without an applicable quote, a new investment or a change of metal cannot be saved. Demo valuations are illustrative.
