Data and imports

Connecting a bank

Add accounts and transactions directly through secure bank consent.

What is this?

A bank connection lets Finance Ledger receive the accounts and transactions supplied by your bank. You do not enter your bank password in Finance Ledger.

How do I restore a disconnected connection?

On the existing card in Bank connections, choose Restore connection and authorize access again at your bank. Retained history and account mappings remain with the same connection. After returning, check the available accounts and select Sync now. Restoring a connection does not recover data you have already deleted.

What do you see?

You choose a bank, confirm access with it, and see the connected accounts after returning. Data is not refreshed in the background.

What can you do?

After connecting, check the accounts, set a start date and choose ‘Sync now’. After the first success, you can separately start a historical import in parts of up to 30 days.

  • Every current or historical refresh is started manually. Renewing access does not start an import.
  • Normal synchronization does not replace historical import or block it after the first success.
  • If the bank temporarily limits requests, wait for the stated time. If consent expires or is revoked, choose ‘Renew access’.

What does the result mean?

‘Connected’ means the bank consent is active, not that data refreshes automatically. ‘Last updated’ shows the latest successful manual synchronization, while ‘Import history’ also records attempts with no new transactions or with an error.
