Column mapping and AI import assistance
Prepare CSV or Excel files with unfamiliar columns before saving transactions.
How do I map the columns?
In Imports, upload the file to the correct account. In column mapping, select a sheet and header row where applicable. Choose a booking date and a signed amount OR separate debit and credit columns. Check date order, decimal separator, currency and amount signs. A balance is not a transaction amount.
What does AI assistance send?
Only after separate permission for the file are column headers and sample value shapes sent to OpenAI. Transaction text, actual amounts and the file itself are not sent. Headers may contain data you entered. Response storage is disabled, but this does not mean zero retention by the provider; see the Privacy Notice for details. You can proceed entirely manually.
When are transactions saved?
AI proposes a mapping; it does not certify the file's accuracy. Review uncertain columns and included statuses, then open Review transactions. Check new rows, dates, amounts and duplicates and confirm the import. If AI is unavailable or its budget is reached, finish the mapping manually. The demo example sends no external AI request.
