Two-factor authentication and backup authenticator

Enable code-based protection and prepare for a lost phone.

How do I enable two-factor authentication?

Open Settings → Security. Add an authenticator app, scan the QR code and enter its current six-digit code. Setup completes only after successful verification. Then add a backup authenticator on a separate device. Do not share the QR code, setup key or one-time codes.

Why is a code sometimes not requested at sign-in?

After a successful code, the browser is remembered for 24 hours. Signing in again in that browser may not require another code during that period; managing authenticators requires fresh verification. In security settings, select Forget this browser when needed. For an invalid code, check your phone's automatic time and use the new code.

What should I do if I lose my phone?

At sign-in, choose your backup authenticator if you set one up. If you cannot access any authenticator, contact support@financeledger.io. Recovery requires an additional identity check; changing your password alone does not remove 2FA. Do not send passwords or codes to support.
